MEI is a response to multiple needs… The need to create Employment for the marginalized youth; the need to create an efficient Workforce to meet industrial and business demands. It is a means to achieving sustained high growth of the national economy and to get the youth out of despondency, drift and crime into a state of confidence, optimism and empowerment.
MEI is also a response to the urgent need to improve the organizational aspect of the working of existing Educational and Training institutions. It is meant to bring Innovation in the organizational functioning wherein Teaching is not a routine exercise but one that involves the youth, motivates them and brings out the best in them. It is a response to the need of applying Technology in its working; a need to incorporate new fields of Training; the need to do a thorough revision of syllabus and curriculum and incorporate new trends and the latest technological development in the field. MEI will also adopt Instructional methodology that combines Online Learning, MOOC courses designed for Trade learning, Mentoring of Teachers, Peer learning of students, hands-on learning using the latest Laboratory facilities etc.
MEI is also a dream that will nurture and nourish the lives of millions of youth. The knowledge from learning and the empowerment that comes from doing a satisfactory job and making a decent living, will serve to galvanize the youth and make them a stakeholder in the growth of the national economy. It will instill civic sense and democratic ideas in society.
MEI is not the work of any one individual or organization but must be a joint effort of all those who seek to respond to the needs outlined above. It must be the action of motivated individuals and leaders who believe in sharing social responsibility. It is an opportunity for Teachers, Administrators, Policy makers, Bureaucrats, Politicians, NGO’s, Philanthropists, Foundations, CSR, to show their concern to their fellow human being…the unemployed and struggling underprivileged youth. It is for them to show that it is possible to turn around the anarchy and dishevel in the working of the Educational and Training setup and set visionary goals and objects and seek solid change. It is their rationale for existence.
